This itinerary shows all the day to day activities through out the days in Uganda's Bwindi

Your driver-guide from Nile Abenteuer Safaris will pick you up from Entebbe or Kampala for a scenic drive to southwestern Uganda.

Journey Highlights:
  • Rolling hills and terraced farmlands

  • An Equator stop for photos (if driving from Kampala)

  • Tea plantations and rural homesteads

  • Views of the Virunga highlands

Drive time: Approximately 8–9 hours (with stops)

Optional upgrade: Domestic flight from Entebbe to Kihihi or Kisoro airstrip (reduces travel time to 1 hour).

Upon arrival, check into your lodge near Bwindi and enjoy dinner while preparing for the next day’s trek.

Today is the highlight of your safari.

After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the park headquarters for registration and briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers.

Gorilla Trekking Experience
  • Trek duration: 2–6 hours depending on gorilla family location

  • One full hour allowed with the gorillas

  • Small groups of 8 visitors per gorilla family

  • Professional armed ranger guide included

The moment you stand just meters away from a silverback gorilla is indescribable. You’ll observe feeding, grooming, playing juveniles, and social interaction in their natural habitat.

This is one of the most profound wildlife encounters on earth.

Physical Fitness Level

Moderate fitness is recommended. The forest terrain is mountainous, muddy, and sometimes steep. Porters are available (highly recommended) to assist with carrying bags and providing support.

Today focuses on people, heritage, and history.

Batwa Cultural Experience

The Batwa are the original forest dwellers of Bwindi. Before conservation policies relocated them, they lived inside the forest as hunter-gatherers.

During this guided cultural experience, you will:

  • Learn traditional hunting techniques

  • Watch cultural dances and storytelling

  • Visit a traditional homestead

  • Understand Batwa history and forest survival skills

This experience supports community development and gives visitors deeper appreciation of conservation’s social impact.

Village Walk

After the Batwa visit, enjoy a guided walk through nearby communities:

  • Local farms and banana plantations

  • Traditional brewing demonstrations

  • School visits (if in session)

  • Craft markets and handmade souvenirs

This day makes the safari emotionally meaningful and educational.

After breakfast, begin your scenic return journey.
